![]() ![]() Pretty much a very small contained area which can be beneficial if you want to keep your eye on your child. It’s a very small waterpark there are only two tube slides, surf runner, a lazy river, an overhead water play area and a kiddie pool. Well, we entered the waterpark and we were already met with additional disappointment- some of the rides were not operational, both tube slides and surf runner. The staff was courteous enough and told us we can use the water park until our room is ready. At that point we all wanted to refresh and unwind but we had to wait another hour or so. As you know that drive is very hard on little ones and on your bottom too so to arrive and find our room was not ready at 4 o’clock was a great disappointment. We arrived at Great Escape after a long 5 hour drive and was looking forward to unwinding. It was nothing too fancy, but a nice escape from the snow outside. It looks very tiring, and it seems to me that the guards are just moving their arm because they are told to do so. Some watch the water with their hand, but others have their heads turned the other way. All of the guards do a scanning technique with their arm every time they walk to the end of their area. The lifeguards and staff were very friendly. (However, working at a water park myself, I know this is a tough one to keep up with). The fiberglass on the tube slides was very old and needed to be resurfaced. Just a few other things I noticed: There was visible rust build up on some of the slides. Eventually they let us back in the park, but (of course) we lost our place in line and had to wait another 40 mins. People were sitting on the floor in their bathing suits as workers handed out hotel blankets. We had to evacuate the water park, and they ushered us into a ballroom in our wet suits. We were the next guests to go when the fire alarm went off. We had been waiting for 40 mins for the wave ride. The only real complaint we had was a combination of bad luck and a hokey situation. My boyfriend and I spent a lot of our time going around the lazy river, playing in the pool and waiting in line for the "wave ride". There was a huge splashing area with slides for kids as well as a baby pool. If you have small children, it is wonderful. There are about 5 things for teens/adults to do. It is small, and we made our rounds in about an hour. Honestly, I chose not to pay the steep charge after reading all of the reviews about how cheap-looking and run down the rooms were.įYI: This is NO Kalahari or Great Wolf Lodge. We came to the water park for the day but did not stay in the hotel.
